Skip the Stuff

Reduce single use waste by providing products upon request only.

Skip the Stuff Summer

Did you know? In the U.S., 561 billion disposable food service items are used every year, resulting in 4.9 million tons of waste. Americans use more than 36 billion utensils and as much as 142 billion straws each year.

Take the pledge! Skip the Stuff Summer is a Keys-wide initiative led by Monroe County and its partners to help local restaurants reduce single-use plastic waste. From July through September 2025, participating businesses pledge to only provide items like plastic utensils, straws, napkins, and condiment packets upon customer request.

This simple shift helps:

✂️ Cut down on unnecessary single-use waste

💵 Save restaurants money on supply costs

🌊 Protect the fragile ecosystems of the Florida Keys

Participating restaurants receive promotional materials, community recognition, and the satisfaction of supporting a more sustainable tourism industry.

Join us in making a positive impact—skip the stuff and support a cleaner Keys!

Shoutout to those who have pledged!
